Away from the beachfronts Devon is a colourful patchwork of beautiful countryside and tranquil river valleys. There are many lovely small towns with interesting individual shops, local crafts and markets and proudly preserved architecture. Nestling into lush green valleys you will find idyllic villages where many of the cottages and sometimes even the pub are thatched. It is well worth taking some time out to visit one of the Moors. Both Dartmoor and Exmoor are the natural habitat of much wildlife and of course moor ponies are to be seen grazing freely. Dartmoor is a vast
expanse of green broken by rocky tors, where relics of the bronze age
as well as stone circles and settlement sites can still be seen. Exmoor,
the smallest National Park, offers some of the most spectacular coastal
scenery in the Country and of course there are many sea birds to be observed
as well as herds of red deer. Enjoy! Delicious cream has
been produced commercially in the West Country since the 13th Century
but for even longer, the housewives of the region have been producing
